APPOINTMENTs

  • Please arrive with your hair clean and detangled. Full instructions are available here.

  • A trim is anything under half an inch and is designed to maintain your current shape and style.

    A cut includes reshaping, adding layers, or creating a new style.

  • CONSULTATION

    We’ll begin with a consultation to discuss your hair history, current routine, goals, and any concerns you may have.

    CUT & STYLE

    Your hair will be cut dry in its natural state to allow accurate curl-by-curl shaping.

    This is followed by a relaxing shampoo, condition, styling, and diffuse dry.

    PRODUCTS & ADVICE

    Throughout your appointment, we’ll guide you through styling techniques, product recommendations, and aftercare advice to help you maintain your curls at home.

  • No, we work with all hair types and textures, including curly, coily, kinky, afro and wavy hair.

  • You’re welcome to send your images by email or WhatsApp or bring inspiration photos before or to your appointment.

    However, results can vary depending on your curl pattern, density, texture, length, and previous colour or styling history. Some online looks may also include extensions, heat styling, or editorial styling that may not be achievable or suitable for your hair type.

  • That’s completely normal. We understand that visiting a new stylist or making a change can feel overwhelming.

    We’ll always take time to discuss your concerns, talk through the process, and make sure you feel comfortable throughout your appointment.

  • Yes. We offer consultations for colour, bridal styling, extensions, and major hair transformations.

  • Hair appointments typically take between 1–4 hours depending on your hair length, density, texture, and service type.

    Longer appointments may be required for colour services or very thick/long hair.

  • No. All services are strictly by appointment only.

  • Yes, guests are welcome.

    If you plan to bring a child with you, please contact us beforehand so we can make suitable arrangements where possible.

NEW CLIENTS

  • Your first appointment will begin with a thorough consultation where we discuss your hair history, goals, lifestyle and any concerns.

    Your stylist will then create a tailored plan for your hair, including cutting, styling and aftercare advice to help you maintain your results at home.

  • Please arrive with your hair worn naturally where possible. More information on how to prepare for your appointment can be found here.

  • That’s absolutely fine. If you’re unsure which service is most suitable, please contact us before booking, and we’ll be happy to guide you.

BOOKING & CANCELLATIONS

  • Appointments are released in 3-month booking blocks at the end of February, May, August and November, and availability can fill quickly.

    We recommend checking back regularly for cancellations or joining our waitlist.

    Last-minute appointments may also occasionally be posted on Instagram or TikTok.

  • Online booking is available up to 3 months in advance.

    Existing clients are also able to pre-book appointments beyond the current booking window. Please note these appointments are initially pencilled in and may be subject to change depending on stylist availability. Confirmation will be provided closer to the release date of the relevant booking block.

    Appointments outside of the standard booking window may also be available for weddings, events, or special circumstances. Please contact us directly, and we’ll do our best to help.

    Please note that last-minute appointments are usually announced via Instagram or TikTok on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Appointments can be managed through the “Manage Reservation” link in your confirmation email.

    Appointments cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice will forfeit the booking deposit.

  • Yes. Your 50% deposit secures your booking and is deducted from your final balance on the day of your appointment.

COLOUR SERVICES

  • Yes. A patch test is required at least 48 hours before all colour appointments for new clients or anyone who hasn’t had colour with us within the last 6 months.

    Please book a £15 colour consultation via our booking page before booking your colour service. The consultation fee will be deducted from your future colour appointment.

  • Yes, we highly recommend booking a consultation for major colour changes, corrective work, vivid colours, or if you are unsure which service to book.

    This allows us to assess your hair, discuss expectations, timings and pricing, and create a personalised plan for your appointment. Please note that a patch test is compulsory for all colour consultations for health and safety reasons

  • In many cases, yes. However, corrective colour work can be unpredictable and may require multiple appointments depending on your hair history and condition.

    We recommend booking a consultation so we can assess your hair and discuss realistic expectations.

CHILDREN & AGE POLICY

  • Yes, we do offer children’s hair appointments. Please book either our Tots Curly Cut (ages 2–3), Kids Curly Cut (ages 4–11), or Teen Cut (ages 11–16).

    If you are unsure which service is most suitable, please contact us and we’ll be happy to advise.

  • Yes, however, clients under 16 may require parental consent depending on the service being booked.

HAIR PREP & PRODUCTS

  • We stock a curated range of professional haircare products designed to support healthy curls, coils, waves and textured hair, including brands such as Bouclème, Innersense, and more.

  • Not strictly. However, many of the products we use are Curly Girl Method friendly.

    Please note that your hair will still need to be cleansed during your appointment to achieve the best results.

  • A detangling fee may be added if pre-appointment instructions have not been followed and additional detangling or preparation time is required before your service.

  • We regularly work with clients experiencing concerns such as psoriasis, dandruff, alopecia, hair thinning, post-surgery scarring and female pattern hair loss.

    If you’re unsure whether a service is suitable for you, please contact us before booking, and we’ll be happy to advise.

AFTERCARE

  • This varies depending on your hair, cut, goals, condition and style; however, most clients return every 1–6 months for maintenance. Your stylist can give a more individual estimate.

  • Yes. We’ll recommend products and techniques suited to your hair texture, lifestyle and styling routine during your appointment.

  • We’ll provide personalised aftercare advice during your appointment, including product recommendations, styling tips and maintenance guidance to help you care for your hair between visits.

SALON EXPERIENCE

  • Yes, complimentary WiFi is available for clients during their appointment.

  • Yes. Your 50% deposit secures your booking and is deducted from your final balance on the day of your appointment.

  • You’re welcome to bring a laptop or work quietly during your appointment where possible.

ACCESSIBILITY & PRIVACY

  • Yes. We want Kinson Hair Studio to be a welcoming and comfortable space for everyone.

    If you have a disability, mobility requirement, sensory sensitivity, neurodivergence, or any other additional need that may affect your visit, please let us know before your appointment. We will always do our best to make reasonable adjustments where possible and ensure you feel comfortable during your time with us.

  • There is a small step at the entrance to the salon, which may make access difficult for some wheelchair users or those with limited mobility. Our toilet facilities are located on a lower level and are only accessible via steps.

  • Yes. We want all clients to feel comfortable and accommodated during their visit.

    Please contact us before your appointment so we can ensure the curtains are closed and that no male clients are present during your service where possible.

  • Yes. If you would prefer a quieter appointment with minimal conversation from your stylist, please let us know before your visit, and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.

LOCATION & TRAVEL

  • Free parking may be available on nearby residential roads including Clock House Road, Blackney Road and MacKenzie Road, approximately 5–10 minutes from the salon.

    Paid parking is available on Beckenham Road and at Beckenham Spa Car Park.

    Please note that some surrounding roads operate permit restrictions between 10am–12pm. Always check local signage before leaving your vehicle.

  • Yes. Gift cards can be purchased online through our booking system or collected in-salon as a physical gift card.

    In severe cases, appointments may need to be shortened or cancelled if there is insufficient time to complete the service safely.

  • Clients arriving more than 10 minutes late may need to have their appointment shortened or cancelled depending on the remaining appointment time and salon schedule.
