PREPARE – WASH, DETANGLE & STYLE.
PREPARE YOUR HAIR FOR YOUR appointment
1
Freshly wash and untangle your hair the night or day before and allow it to air dry or diffuse.
If you co-wash or use oils in your hair, you must wash your hair with shampoo (those with tighter curls or coils should shampoo twice).
HOW TO DETANGLE HAIR: Waves/Loose Curls | Loose/Tighter Curls | Tighter Curls/Coils/Kinks
Style Your Hair as You Normally Would
2
Style your hair as you normally would on a typical wash day using the products you regularly reach for. This helps us see how your curls naturally behave and allows us to tailor your cut to your real-life styling routine.
Please make sure your curls are fully dry for your appointment. We recommend avoiding heavy oils, excessive product build-up, or extra-strong hold gels, as these can make it more difficult to assess your natural curl pattern, movement, and volume.
The goal is for us to see your curls as they usually look day to day, so there’s no need to try anything new or spend extra time perfecting them before your appointment. If you're not sure, just try your best.
Come to your appointment with your hair worn down and in its natural, styled state. This allows us to see your curl pattern, shape, and density, as well as how your hair naturally falls around your face and throughout the haircut.
If you wear a hijab, please either leave your hair out underneath or tie it up very loosely. We recommend smoothing your hair down with a satin scarf before putting on your hijab to help minimise disruption to your curl pattern. Please refer to the video provided for guidance.

Avoid Hair Accessories Before Your Appointment
4
Please do not wear or use grips, clips, hair ties, scarves, headbands, hats, sunglasses, or any other accessories on your head before your appointment.
These can stretch, flatten, separate, or alter your curl pattern, making it more difficult for us to accurately assess your hair and create the best possible shape for your curls. Arriving with your hair free from accessories helps us see your curls as they naturally sit and move.
Remove Protective Styles Well in Advance
5
Please do not arrive with hair that has been recently taken out of canerows, braids, twists, loc styles, or any other long-term protective style the day or night before your appointment.
Hair that has been kept in these styles can remain stretched, compressed, or patterned for several days after removal, which makes it difficult for us to accurately assess your natural curl pattern, shrinkage, density, and shape. For the most accurate curly haircut, we recommend allowing your hair time to return to its natural state before your appointment and completing at least one wash and styling session after removing the protective style.
If you are unsure whether your hair will have settled enough before your appointment, please get in touch and we will be happy to advise.
hold on kinson. i wear my hair in a twist out.
6
If you typically wear your hair in a twist-out, please come to your appointment with a fresh twist-out that is no more than one day old. Send us a message letting us know you are coming with a twist on
Older twist-outs can become stretched, lose definition, and create an inaccurate picture of your natural shape and curl pattern. A fresh twist-out allows us to properly assess your hair's volume, movement, and overall shape, helping us create the most balanced and personalised haircut for you.
MORNING Refresh If Needed
7
If your curls are looking a little flat or misshapen, give them a gentle refresh before your appointment by lightly spritzing with water and applying your usual styling products.
There's no need to do anything complicated or try a new technique. The aim is simply to help your curls look as they normally would on a good day, so we can see their natural shape, definition, and movement.
If your hair already looks great, leave it as it is. We want to see your curls at their most natural and authentic
NOT SURE?
If you don't understand any of the steps above, please just do your best. We know that every hair journey is different, and these guidelines are simply designed to help us see your hair as accurately as possible before your curly cut.
If you're unable to wear your hair down or follow any of the preparation steps due to work requirements, confidence, religious reasons, a protective style, or any other circumstance, please let us know via WhatsApp so we can prepare.
Most importantly, please arrive with clean, thoroughly detangled hair. This is the most important part of preparing for your curly haircut and helps ensure we can make the most of your appointment.
